Safer Internet Day 2021

8th Feb 2021

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow (9th February 2021) is the Safer Internet Day.  Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to focus on online safety with your child, especially as children are using the internet more and more due to online learning. This year, Safer Internet Day explores reliability online. The campaign will focus on knowing what to trust online and developing strategies that young people can use to question and challenge the information they find online.

The BBC will be delivering a lesson on UK Safer Internet Day on BBC Teach. You watch this using this link (https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/live-lessons/safer-internet-day-live-lesson/zdh2wnb), or you can watch it on the CBBC channel on at 11am. This is catered to primary school children and they have developed some activities that children can completed alongside this lesson. I have also attached the teacher/parent notes to accompany the lesson if you would like to have a look at this.

In addition to this lesson I have also attached a family activity pack that you can explore. If you would like any additional information on how to keep your child safe whilst using the internet there are some fabulous activities that you can explore on the safer internet website.
