Curriculum Meetings and Parent Teacher Meetings Oct & Nov 2020

16th Oct 2020
  1. Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued adherence to the Covid requirements around the school, it has been most notable and it has enabled us to continue a full school service to date.

This additional week’s holiday has been a surprise to us all!

Extended Hallowe’en holiday

Following Minister Weir’s announcement on 14th October, an additional week has been added to the school holiday list. Three of these days have been classified as exceptional school closure days and two days have been changed to optional closure days, which have been transferred from other planned school closure days. As a consequence, school will reopen for all pupils on Monday 2nd November, at the usual staggered opening times.

Impact of Covid restrictions on school – based activities.

Curriculum meetings

Covid restrictions have impacted on our options to organise our curriculum meetings for parents with teachers, in October. This is hugely disappointing as it gave the staff and parents an opportunity to meet and greet and learn about the new curriculum that the children will be engaged in. We usually organise these meetings, when the children settle down into the routines of school.

The delivery of the curriculum, in each class,P1-6  will be made available on the school website for each year group from Thursday 22nd October. https://www.stpatrickspsholywood.com/classes/

It is very important that everyone spends some time to read over this valuable information.

Baseline Parent Teacher Meetings - Primary 1 – 6 classes

Our curriculum meetings in early October, lead into our baseline Parent Teacher Meetings, in late October/ November. The class teachers usually have face to face meetings with parents and discuss the settling in period and any issues or concerns parents may have with the new curriculum or routines.

Due to Covid regulations, PTM will be organised in a different way this year.

  • PTM for P1- P6 pupils will take place by appointment, via a phone call from the class teacher.(Private Number)
  • The appointment system will enable parents to select their appointment slot on selected days and times between the 3rd November to the 13th November.
  • The appointment schedule for each class teacher will be available on the class see-saw app page from Monday 19th @ 10 am. (A copy is attached for reference only.)
  • It will operate on a first come - first served basis.
  • Please give a first and second preference choice.
  • CLOSING DATE - 21/10/20@ 4PM

P6  M.SHERLOCK'S CLASS ONLY - PLEASE SEND YOUR PREFERED DATES TO msherlock155@c2kni.net.

  • The class teacher will confirm your appointment slot by Monday 2nd November.
  • There are approximately 40-45 slots per class available.
  • Please be aware that, if you do not book a slot, we will presume that you do not require a PTM.
  • Furthermore, there will be no GL assessment data available at the time of the PTMs for pupils in P3-6, as the children will undertake these tests in November.
  • In the event of a schedule clash, for siblings, the teachers will accommodate you in an overflow slot.

P7 Parent Teacher Meetings

P7 meetings will take place in December, prior to the transfer tests.

Thank you for your continued support and have a super Hallowe'en break.

Kind regards,

C O’Neill

Principal
