Supporting and caring for our local care homes
Dear Parents and pupils ,
I hope you are all safe and well. School is certainly a lonely place without you all!
I have a special request for you today.
I have been contacted by the local community organisation "Holywood Shared Towns" to seek some support for the local care homes in our locality.
The idea is to create some poems/letters/stories/drawings etc. from local primary schools including St.Patricks to send to our residential care homes to ensure that our elder neighbours dont feel isolated.
In terms of the audience, the care homes involved have a variety of residents: older people, older people with dementia and service users with learning disabilities.
Pupils would be free to employ their creativity. They could write poems, draw pictures (the rainbow theme that we see everywhere is one example), write letters to residents or even pen short stories. None of it needs to be complicated. The goal is to foster some sense of community and assure people living in isolation etc. that the world outside is thinking of them. If you would like to participate, you can do so in two ways.
1. Create your piece of work and ( scan ) email it to the school email address
info@stpatsps.holywood.ni.sch.uk
Or
2. Create your work and place in a collection box, at the canopy entrance door for contributions from Thursday 28th morning until Thursday 7th May.
Kind regards
